I think a general annoucement area would be very helpful to let  the members know what is going on. Like the Masonic Funeral taht is scheduled for Saturday June 13 at 2PM at the Lodge.  Good work , Ben!

There is already an Announement area. If you can't see it, please let me know. I currently have posting rights limited on that forum. Which reminds me, you are the Hall Board president, you should already have postings rights there. I'll need to check on that. When you do post something in there, if you want it to show up on the main page, just check the box labeled 'Announce topic' under the 'Additional options...' area.
